Ford to Create 800 Jobs in Michigan by 2019

Just an hour south of here, Ford will be making a new $350 million investment in its Livonia Transmission Plant. This is just the latest in investments Ford has made in Michigan in the last four months, to a sum of $2.25 billion.

This could be good news for Ortonville workers willing to commute. The update to the transmission plant will include adding (or protecting) 800 jobs starting this year, with the majority of positions to be added next year and 2019.

The creation of these new manufacturing jobs is with the support of the United Automobile Workers (UAW) labor union, further evidence of Ford's commitment to its employees. Jimmy Settles, UAW vice president, commented on the benefits of collective bargaining, and concluded, "The addition of these 800 jobs will add job security for the plant’s hardworking men and women, and support for the surrounding community."
