The Ford F-150 is the truck of legend, America’s best-selling pickup truck for over forty years. Its cousin, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning, has all of its abilities and is all electric. We’re going to look closer at some of the features that make the Lightning the top of the tree of electric full-sized pickup trucks in the US.
Electrifying Features of the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning
Powering Your House

Yep, you read that correctly. Power outages can happen, and if power is lost due to a natural disaster, your home could be without electricity for several days. If this happens, the Lightning comes to your rescue with this handy feature. There are a few minor and inexpensive modifications you’ll need to make to your home, and your Lightning will be ready to serve as a backup generator.
You’ll need the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro, which you’ve probably already installed when you bought your Lightning, to allow it to recharge at home. You’ll also need the Home Integration System from Sunrun, Ford’s trusted provider. With both systems in place, you’ll be ready if the lights go out. Simply plug the cable into your F-150 Lightning, and you’ll beat the darkness.
Great Fuel Economy
Fuel economy is important even when a vehicle doesn’t use gasoline or diesel. MPGe measures how far an electric vehicle can travel on a gallon equivalent of electricity. The standard Lightning battery is rated at 76 MPGe in the city and 61 MPGe on the highway, providing a driving range on a full charge of up to 240 miles.
The available extended-range battery is even more efficient, supplying 78 MPGe in the city and 63 MPGe on the highway, giving you an effective range of 300 to 320 miles if your battery is fully juiced. Both battery types are covered by warranty for the first eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Advanced Technology
The Lighting includes a range of advanced technology to make your driving experience easier than ever. SYNCH technology is available and seamlessly links your smartphone to your vehicle, enabling you to access everything you need through your 15.5″ infotainment screen. SYNCH is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible and easy to connect via Bluetooth.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is a range of advanced driver assistance features pre-installed in the Lightning. These features use cameras, sonar, and radar to protect you from accidents by identifying potential collision situations and warning you so you can take action. BlueCruise is another advanced technology that enables you to drive hand-free on an ever-increasing network of roads through the US and Canada.
