The 2025 Ford Explorer is a leader in its class of full-size SUVs, with fuel-savvy performance, next-level technology, and a spacious, three-row design.

1. Two Turbocharged Engines

In addition to an available Intelligent 4WD feature, this edition of the Explorer has four trim levels (Active, Platinum, ST, and ST-Line) with two engines available. Active, ST-Line, and Platinum models come with a turbocharged 300-horsepower I-4 under the hood. Taking things to the next level, the sporty ST trim has a twin-turbocharged 400-horsepower V6. While the I-4 offers superior fuel efficiency, getting up to 29 MPG, the V6 pairs with a sport-tuned suspension for extra thrills.

2. Advanced Infotainment for All

Combining entertainment functions like streaming video with convenience features like built-in Google Maps navigation, this SUV’s Ford Digital Experience isn’t your average infotainment system. With this standard feature, you can quickly download apps, access YouTube, and make calls using your voice, while it pairs perfectly with the standard rear view camera and available 360-degree camera. Best of all, you have the choice of using either voice control or a 13.2-inch touchscreen display with many of its functions.

3. A Class III Trailer-Tow Package

Every model is ready to tow small trailers, small to midsize boats, jet skis, and other recreational vehicles, as it’s capable of pulling up to 5,000 pounds with the standard Class III hitch and 4-pin/7-pin wiring. This is in addition to many other helpful trailering features, including standard BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with trailer coverage, Trailer Sway Control, Trailer/Haul mode, and options available for select trims like Pro Trailer Backup Assist and an integrated trailer brake controller.

4. Automated Driving Systems

A suite of driver-assist and safety-monitoring features comes standard with this edition, though two systems in particular have been getting much of the attention from drivers: Adaptive Cruise Control and BlueCruise. With both features making driving more relaxing, the Adaptive Cruise Control system has both Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering technology, while BlueCruise can take over steering as well when using it on any of the 130,000 miles of designated highways in the U.S. and Canada.

5. A Multi-Pane Panoramic Roof

Flooding the cabin with natural light on sunny days, the optional Panoramic Vista Roof with Power Shade, which comes standard with the upscale Platinum trim, has multiple panels that extend across all three rows. With the front panel section, you can open it fully, and with the rear panels, you can pop them upward to let airflow in. The included power-operated shade allows you to block UV rays as needed with the push of a button.
